Weight per foot
The nominal threaded and coupled weight in pounds per foot. It is how pipe is ordered and priced. Plain end weight (PE) is the bare tube without couplings and is what the mill actually rolls.
Wall
Wall thickness in inches. Heavier weight in the same OD means thicker wall, higher collapse and burst, and a smaller ID.
ID
Inside diameter, OD minus twice the wall. It sets what tools and tubing strings will pass through the pipe.
Drift
The mandrel diameter guaranteed to pass through every joint. API standard drift is ID less 1/8" for 4 1/2" to 8 5/8" casing, 5/32" for 9 5/8" to 13 3/8", 3/16" for 16" and up, and 3/32" for tubing through 2 7/8". Special drift is available on request.
Grades at a glance
Grade is the steel's minimum yield strength in thousands of psi. Pick the lowest grade that handles the well's pressure and environment, then buy the connection to match.
Threads we quote
STC, short round thread
API 8 round, short coupling. Shallow and medium casing, lowest cost.
LTC, long round thread
API 8 round, longer coupling, more tensile capacity than STC. The default on most J55 and L80 production casing.
BTC, buttress
Square shouldered thread with high tensile and compression capacity. Deep wells, surface and intermediate strings, heavy weights.
EUE and NUE tubing
External upset end adds metal at the joint for strength; non upset is slick and cheaper. 8 round and 10 round threads.
Semi-flush and premium
Gas tight metal to metal seals, torque shoulders, slim OD couplings. Horizontal, HPHT and gas wells. Quoted by brand on request.
Can I get a weight that isn't on the chart?
Usually. The chart is what we stock or source regularly. Send the size and weight and we check the mill and yard network.
Is drift guaranteed on used pipe?
Yes. Every used joint we sell is drifted to API standard after EMI inspection. The drift size is on the inspection report that ships with the load.
What range do you carry?
Range 2 (25 to 34 ft) is standard on casing and tubing. Range 3 (34 to 48 ft) on larger casing by request. Range 1 on some tubing.
